Rock and Blues Custom Show, Derbyshire .
I have been to this bike Rally before, but this year was particularly enjoyable as I got to meet more loonies!! We got there on Thursday teatime and the weather had been great all day - of course when we started to put the tent up it rained!
Even on Thursday evening it was busy, but it got crazy on Friday.
We eventually managed to get the mini into the backstage area, and the Guys had some fun clambering through her! It was great to meet the Guys after so many yaers - Thanks for your hosptality Guys!! And a big Thankyou to Mark Shaw for organising Rock and Blues and STILL having time to help me out getting backstage. He did a cracking job of organising 28,000 bikers!!
Thunder, of course, were marvelous on stage too.
The rest of the line up for friday night was also very good - Levellers, Magnum and Slade. They all got the crowd going well and created a good atmosphere.
Unfortunately, this left Saturday with a lot to live up to.
It might just have been me - anything was going to be an anticlimax for me , after meeting Thunder and seeing them perform a cracking set - but I got very bored on Saturday. Girlschool were dire! They just sounded terrible. Bad Manners pulled it back a little and woke the crowd up but then Bob Geldof came on and did a load of Folky stuff that just didn't work. Twisted Sister were okay but they started with a load of unremembered stuff and by the time they had got onto the well known stuff I had wandered off looking around the stalls. At the end though, they pulled the magic rabbit out of the hat - the rabbit was Brian Johnston from AC/DC, and he performed "whole lotta Rosie" with Twisted Sister which was pretty cool to see.
